Dr. Stephen Kinney, our Chief of Staff, is a Winthrop, Maine native. He attended the University of Maine at Orono and completed graduate work at Auburn University in Alabama. His veterinary training was at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was first in his graduating class in 1983.

Returning to Maine, Dr. Kinney had a mixed animal practice for 13 years before concentrating on small pets and household exotics. He has a special interest in shelter medicine and has served on the board of the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook for 15 years. He has also worked closely with the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston for the last 25 years. A strong advocate for spaying and neutering, Dr. Kinney has performed over 2,500 spays and neuters in a single year!

Dr. Katharine Kiger grew up in Portland, Maine, and is delighted to have returned to Maine recently to practice in her home state as a veterinarian. She received an undergraduate degree in Animal Science at the University of Vermont with focuses in Agriculture and Wildlife Biology, followed by a veterinary degree at University College Dublin School of Veterinary Medicine, with licensure to practice in both the State of Maine and the Republic of Ireland.

Dr. Kiger's veterinary interests include preventive and internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and nutrition. Her personal interests include gardening, cooking, reading, camping, traveling, and riding her motorcycle in the summertime. At home she has two cats and two dogs, all rescues.
